Limits of this comparison

  • Adobe’s product and help pages blocked scripted fetches, so the Adobe facts above come from Adobe blog posts dated 8 October 2024 and 24 April 2025 and from the Content Authenticity Initiative site. Current (October 2026) status is not confirmed.
  • contentauthenticity.adobe.com renders with JavaScript and could not be read, and we found no Adobe enterprise page we could read.
  • Adobe Firefly’s own Content Credentials behaviour is covered separately in the tools database.
  • What Proofcan lacks: Proofcan does not cover video, audio or text, and its C2PA conformance application is still in progress.

Different starting points

Adobe and the CAI describe free tools aimed at creators, with support for images, audio and video. Proofcan is a paid service for images only, with a registry record and a PDF report of marking history; it does not cover audio or video.
