The Proofcan badge.

A small image you can place next to an image you signed with Proofcan. It links to that image’s public record page, where the registry shows what it holds. The badge itself claims nothing.

The two versions

Content credentials · Check on Proofcan
For light pages · 300×28px SVG
Content credentials · Check on Proofcan
For dark pages · 300×28px SVG

What it is, and what it is not

  • It is: a link to the public record page of an image signed with Proofcan, on proofcan.com/verify.
  • It is not a statement about the image next to it. The badge looks the same whatever the record says; the status is shown only on the record page.
  • It is not a guarantee about the EU AI Act or any other law, and not the outcome of a trust-list check.
  • It is not proof by itself: anyone can place an image and a link next to any picture. Check the record page, and check the file on Verify.

How to embed it

  1. Sign an image on Proofcan. The result screen has a “Copy embed code” button for each file.01
  2. Paste the code next to the image on your page. Or open the record page for an ID and use the same button there.02
  3. Test it: the badge should open that ID’s record page on proofcan.com.03

The code, with a placeholder ID

<a href="https://www.proofcan.com/verify?id=ABCDEFGH" target="_blank" rel="noopener" aria-label="Content credentials for this image: check on Proofcan"><img src="https://www.proofcan.com/badge/proofcan-credentials-light-v1.svg" width="300" height="28" alt="Content credentials · Check on Proofcan" style="max-width:100%;height:auto"></a>

Markdown

[![Content credentials · Check on Proofcan](https://www.proofcan.com/badge/proofcan-credentials-light-v1.svg)](https://www.proofcan.com/verify?id=ABCDEFGH)

The link opens in a new tab with rel=“noopener”. It is a normal link; it is not marked nofollow.

Get the code for an ID

Enter an eight-character lookup ID. The code is produced only if the public registry has a record for it.

Technical details

  • Two static SVG files served from proofcan.com, the same for every record. There is no per-record request to a database.
  • No script, iframe, cookie or tracking pixel, and no request to any third party.
  • The files are cacheable for a year; their names carry a version (-v1) so artwork changes ship as new files.
  • Both versions have an alt text and the link an aria-label. Size is 300×28 px and the image scales down on narrow screens.

Because the image is loaded from proofcan.com, a visitor’s browser requests it from our servers. See the Privacy Policy. To check any file, use Verify or the Content Credentials checker.

Questions

Does the badge prove anything about the image next to it?
No. The badge is an image and a link. By itself it states nothing about the picture next to it. The link goes to the public record page, which shows what the Proofcan registry holds for that ID.
Can anyone put the badge next to any image?
Yes, because it is only an image and a link. That is why the record page matters, and why the file itself can be checked on the Verify page or with the Content Credentials checker.
Does the badge mean an image meets the EU AI Act?
No. Proofcan is a technical tool and does not guarantee that anything meets any law. The badge is not a mark of legal status and not the result of a trust-list check.
What does the badge load, and does it track visitors?
It is one static SVG file from proofcan.com. There is no script, iframe, cookie or tracking pixel. Because the image is served from proofcan.com, a visitor’s browser requests it from our servers like any other file.
